Admissions of a Closet Conservative

I admit it. I’m a Closet Conservative.

Over the past 8 years or so, I have found that in America today, freedom of speech, creed, religion were only allowed if you agreed with Progressivism and that sexism, racism and all other “isms” of discrimination are only considered discriminatory if you were not a middle-aged, single, white, straight, Christian male (aka Evil).

So came the Closet Conservative, treading lightly as to not be mass-unfriended or uninvited to “Holiday” gatherings (we used to call it Christmas). We started saving meaningful discussions for special bars, clubs and chat-rooms specifically designated as “Safe Zones” for our fellow Shhh…Conservatives.

Here are some insights into why me and many fellow Conservatives have withdrawn to our closets in America today:

  1. We keep our heads down while in line at B&N, afraid of the condemnation, reprisal and judgement from clerks and other patrons
  2. We are considered “greedy” because we want to reap the fruits of our labor.
  3. We believe it is the same as steeling when someone or a government expects to take what we have earned without our permission.
  4. We are called “racist” for being proud of our heritage, unless we are not white.
  5. Labeled “sexist” because of our gender, unless we are women.
  6. Having to dodge an incoming bag of urine while en route to a political convention
  7. We believe that We All Matter equally … and don’t believe highlighting our differences will unite us a nation, but perpetuate the division and “isms”
  8. We believe that Freedom of Speech cannot exist in a world of Political Correctness.
  9. We don’t understand why people want to come to our country, even sometimes illegally…to then expect us to adapt and reform to reflect their cultures and values.
  10. Wonder why our fellow Americans call us “fascists” for being proud of our Nation and that putting American families, friends, neighbors, communities, and our country first makes us Neo-Nationalists.

As much as I would like to “come out” and be proud of who I am, unfortunately in the Progressive American society today, who I am is the antithesis of goodness and would continue to demonize, vilify, punish, bully, belittle and berate me for my beliefs and opinions. So instead, I’ll wait until it is safer and country is willing to accept all opinions, from all of us, equally.
